100% correct, my dad is lurks on this forum and called me up when he saw this.

this was his exact way back in the 60's when he bred fish to cure them of ALOT of illnesses and diseases, its all in the water he said, fresh clean water gives the ICH a harder time each time surviving.

I used salt and heat up until today due to him being vague and wanting me to "learn on my own" now that this is layed out I wonder how mad the wife will be when she gets home from work tonight..........

Thank you for the "formula"  I am 100% about not using chemicals other then ferts and water conditioners in my tanks.

Really interesting, thanks for sharing. Given the ich lifecycle, it makes sense that it works.

alternative medicine.

set up t4 20 gallon tanks.

clean water, just a stone for aeration.

every 12 hours move the fish to the next tank and clean the one they were in.

In 2 - 3 days - no more ich.

I learned this from a guy who refused to use the various meds we have at our disposal due to the nasty nature of those chems.  Many are considered carcinogenic by the state of california and others.

This works, but what a PITA.

I agree 100% on the salt reccomendation. But have since moved a little towards Mike G's theory on the heat. If the fish is already stressed from the ich cranking the heat I think can do just as much harm as good. I know if I'm sick, putting me in a sauna ain't gonna help!  Last case of ich I had, I added the salt and meds but left the heat alone. Same results.

rm slover you have suggested to use non iodonized salt from walmart.I have been using that salt but it feel weird using it.just perinoid i guess! lol

Use the non iodized salt with no caking agents. It's sold as pickling salt at most grocery stores. Morton produces it in a green box.

what is the differance of non iodonized and iodnized salt

One has iodine in it the other doesn't. Don't use the iodized fish don't need that much iodine in their diet, it can be harmfull.
