i use a mixed variety of foods, like color flake, veggie flake, spirulia flake, spirulia pellets, and tetramin. basically a big compilation of types of food. i also feed BBS (baby brine shrimp) and occasionally blood worms (awesome for angels). i get a lot of my food from Ken's Fish, and also equipment. (they throw in free samples sometimes)

It depends on the fish (whether I'm feeding my Mbuna, open water Malawi Haps, or Central/South Americans)...BUT, I usually try and mix things up.

Currently, I feed a

50/50 mix of Aquadine's Veggie flake Spirulina Flake.

I also use Aquadine's Shrimp/Plankton sticks (the more carnivorous species love this).

I'll mix in some Tetra Color Cichlid Sticks

Occassionally, brine shrimp or blood worms for variety.

Our Discus get a rotation of beefheart and bloodworms....

Kens flake food in the morning and then frozen brine shrimp and blood worms at night, when I have more time. Somethimes I treat my fish with live food ( if they are extremly good ).

So I say to her……There is plenty of stuff at the house for the baby to eat!!!! I REALLY need this fish……

Dainichi ultima and primary krill.  The smallest size possible.  Tiny pellets work great for big fish. A little messy perhaps, but that is what filters are for.

HBH graze when I need a flake.

HBH Oscar Pellet when I need a cheap pellet for SA and CA fish.  This stuff smells like dog food.  Big nasties love it.

Anything I get from distributors and manufacturers for free.  Someone will always eat it.

I buy all my food and supplies from JEHMCO.com.  Prices and service are great.  I need to find a new food to replace the Dainichi - maybe spectrum?  Dainichi has become unaffordable to me.

Frozen mysis and krill by the handful - works great.

I feed a lot of kinds of food including Spectrum, Dianichi, Tetra Cichlid Sticks, HBH Soft and Moist and others.

I don't think anybody mentioned baby brine shrimp which are eaten even by 3" long. I always like to feed my tanks (and any other secretive cave spawners) BBS because oftentimes you don't see the babies until they are pretty big. Most shelldwellers eat for 1-2 weeks in the shell before they come out. I learned that tip from the uber-tang gal Pam Chin herself!

I feed NLS as my staple.  I keep all three sizes for my fish.    As a treat and to vary their diets I use freeze dried foods, rather than frozen.  They tend to have a higher protein content and easier to store.  It's either brine shrimp or krill with spirulina flakes or pellets.  I call it my "meat and veggie" dinner.
