Usually the eggs on Cichlasoma sp. are yellowish and not clear. Also, hatching at 70 F is going to take very long. You really should try76-78 degrees for hatching them. As keeper said, add some anti-fungal.

I have a confession. I'm a cichlaholic.

Not so sure with the new worlds as I don't keep them, but generally white eggs are not viable. You might think about adding in some Methylene Blue. Its a anti fungal.

As for the kids BAP program. It works similar to the regular BAP. Spawn you fish, raise a minimum of 5 fry to 60 days, Fill out the BAP sheet, and turn in the sheet and 5 fry at one of the GCCA's monthly meetings.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

hi my cichlasoma boliveniese have laid eggs several times recently they laid on Aug 16(these were eaten) I have 3 boliveniese, 1 firemouth and 6 plecos in the tank.  They just laid eggs again on Aug 24 we moved these eggs into a tank of their own(transfered same water from larger tank into the 10 gallon, removed all the rock and added an air pump). Some are clear colored(eggs) some are white.  How long do is it take for this breed of fish to hatch and is there any way to tell if they are viable.  Is there any thing else I should do (no light over tank and temp turned up to about 70 F)  thanks

and how does my son join the Junior Breeders program this is hobby I am just assisting(he is 12yrs old).
