i've used vinegar to get the white stuff off the inside of a tank in the past and it was not an issue.

I think Teach Skip is on to something. I can't imagine vinegar would be that much of a problem. I use it (white vinegar) all the time. How and when did you cycle this tank? Have you had the water tested?

Kegger mentioned two possible causes of your fish fatalities: 1) not thoroughly rinsing the tank and 2) not cycling the tank. An ammonia spike will kill the fish as easily as the lowered pH caused by the vinegar. Keep us posted as to your progress and good luck.

You have to rinse the tank out like 2000000000000000000000000000000 time after using vinegar to clean it.

When you think you are done do it again.

Almost sounds as if you either didn't rinse the tank out good enough, or the tank hasn't cycled properly, please check your water parameters and let us know what they are so someone here can help you out a bit further

hello everyonE ,I am new to this site, although i have been to the swamp meets and really enjoyed myself I just read the post here and that was it but i really need help . I have a serious problem, a month ago I cleaned out my 60 gallon aquarium with straight vinegar, and since then  everytime I put fish in it they die, the only reason I used the vinegar was to get the buildup off the glass and now well I cant even use it, I am so frustrated and have resulted to using feeder goldfish after i change the water for guiena pigs to see if they die and they do! what can I do if anything to save this tank, I really like it, its a 24x24x24 oceanic cube. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP.
