Neolamprologus Birchardi Scare

12 years 2 months ago #11336 by klassichobbies
In my 125 i have a bunch of fish. What happened was one of the Eureka peacocks got stock on this decoration. This decor is home made. I had a few at the swap. it was a terra cotta pot with a plastic plant stuck on top. the plant was like long sword grass. somehow, one of the Eurekas got skewered on one of the blades. the blade went in its mouth and out the gills. i managed to get him off and he swam away and is still alive to this day. I hope your brichardi does OK rm-slover.

Today after I got done umpiring a poor game of travel softball betweek the 16U Roselle Rampage and the Bloomingdale Blast, I was eating and I heard a noise that sounded like a filter getting clogged making a funny noise. So I went to the tanks where I heard a noise and totally freaked out. The head of the female Birchardi was stuck in one of the holes in my barnacles I have in the tank for the fry to hide in. The noise was the female flailing around and banging on the glass.

I grabbed the barnacle and pulled it out of the water mostly but kept the fish completely underwater and I slowly was able to remove the fish without injuring it as far as I could tell. The fish has been out of the barnacle for 15-20 minutes now and I can't coax her out from under her pot.

What kind of disasters has anyone else had?
