« on: February 19, 2008, 04:51:55 PM »

alright so now that i got the 75 up and running i want really big full plants...

there really arent that many huge (like 18" tall and just as wide/deep) for sale out there but i have so many fake plants around my house, non aquarium plants just like decore to make the place look nice...

i have a few "house plants" that would look awesome in the tank but dunno if its safe...  anyway to find out if the materials are fish friendly...

thanks fellas

Most plastic plants are ok for the aquarium as long as you rinse them really well. The major thing to watch out for is the plants that have a metal wire running through the stems.

There is a lady at the swap that sells some AMAZING fake plants. She generally has a few adds in the classified section at www.GCCA.net. If you can make it to the swap she generally has a huge selection and I believe that she takes custom orders.

that one was easy for me to remember, I went to school with her hubby and saw him at one of the swaps and haven't seen him in years so it was good to find him and his wife

You can find the plastic "foliage" to make whatever size/appearance you want at Michael's craft store.  IME, you may be able to find many of the supplies used to create the plants pictured in the link above, in addition to all kinds of shells of many sizes at Michael's too.
