I recently got some info from redzebra24 about how to improve on my picture taking skills.  One thing that I could do very easily was add more light.  It pretty amazing how much this helps with the easier this makes getting a decent photo.  It helped to show what the Firefin actually look like, the watch for the orange in the fins(shows best in the side fin, photophores).  Here are the results and comments:

The male was out...he doesn't like all the light, quick get a picture....
Male w/female behind

Male

At this point I realized i had my camera lighting set at "daylight".  It wasn't quite right so I switched it to "fluorescent".  Also, the male decided he'd had enough of this bright light.

Light on one side glowing through.

Completely in hiding.

The other female was still hanging out in front of her cave full of wigglers.  You can see the orange in her fins pretty well.

tested out the zoom.  Still has a little blur, but the light helps a lot.

Great shots!  I've had that same problem. I got a nice camera, but no skills.

Aaron,

Those are some awesome shots! Pictures are well lit, they are sharp, in focus and not blurry. All you need to do is work on composition now that you have everything else down.

Keep them coming!

I usually only have a 18" strip light.  For these photos I had an 18" strip, a 24" strip and another fish light that has sockets which has a compact florescent bulb.  The male comp was not a big fan of all that light.

Very nice pics, Aaron.  You're getting advice from one of the best.  And those firefins really have an interesting look.

I can see the difference in the photos.
I have learned to set the light forward on the tank also cast better light on to the fish.  : )
