Awesome looking fish.  There is a guy about a mile from me that breeds them as well.  I remember when he said that he had them,  as I was looking at some of his yellow labs.  I remember saying "Really?  Maybe I'll buy a couple,  how much are you asking?"  At which point he said that what he had was not for sale yet,  but when he had enough that he felt he could sell some off,  he would ask about $200 each for 1.5"ers.  Needless to say I almost crapped myself.  After he explained that what I see in the stores for $29.99 are not the same as his,  I understood.  The guy was really cool about explaining the differences.

Good luck with those fish Finnegan.  They're really pretty.

My fingers are crossed.  They are getting larger than I imagined they that would, and should be near spawning size.  Just 1 spawn would be a trip!

Thank you.  I am considering turning the tank upside down as the next thing that I try to entice them to spawn.

Yeah, very nice.  Maybe they want some sand(substrate) and caves and other things fish like.  What size tank are they in and how many do you have?

These pics were taken when everything was being shifted around during a water change.  They have b. bells, slate caved, and terra-cotta tubes to choose from.  The only other people breeding them, whom I have been able to find, recommended that I take the substrate out.  Which I did about a month or so ago.

They are in an overfiltered 30g, with temp in the mid-80's, and agitation on the surface. I recently took some rocks out to give them more open space, and starting feeding SF frozen blood worms.  Hopefully it helps induce spawning.

No tankmates right now

I actually kind of fear what the L236 might do to any tankmates at night.  They are meat eaters.  I am still thinking about it though.
